Always Something New

This afternoon I received an invitation from Lee Ann Spillane to join Classroom 2.0 to see a post she had written about the David Warlick presentation we attended. Now I have yet another login and password to remember and another place to check for new information. Although it's fun to see instant publishing of ideas appear, I'm still overwhelmed by the volume of sites that are offering this read/write opportunity. I now have a weblog on the OCPS teachers.ocps.net server, another called tech-integrator on blogger, another on Tapped In, wikis on PBWiki and wikispaces, flickr (you need a yahoo account first), Google account, Gmail, school email, Roadrunner email, Gaggle and I'm sure there are more that I've forgotten. Be sure to visit her page and join http://classroom20.ning.com/profile/Spillane.

Information Overload

The book is nearly finished! In researching items to include though, I am on info overload. There are so many web sites with Web 2.0 types of tools. Virtual Karma has a comprehensive alphabetical list of these tools. Of course, they are not all useful for education with many of the constraints that districts have for filtering Internet content. Watch for the book called Emerging Internet Technologies, published by FTC Publishing.

A Book about Web 2.0 tools

My colleagues and I are collaborating on Google docs in writing a book about Web 2.0 tools. It's really different composing that way. It takes more discipline and an organizer to keep you on track.

Finally -Tech Integrator

In searching for a title for my blog, I tried every combination of "tech" with techteacher, tech4teaching, techtime, techspot, etc. Finally, tech-integrator was available. I work in Professional Development in a large district teaching teachers how to use and integrate technology in the classroom. I am excited about sharing ideas with other educators on how to effectively use technology to improve learning.
